It’s October already and the leaves have mostly changed—we’ve already made it through two complete sports seasons and are gearing up for NAL and Volleyball. What great things are going on around here! Let me just say this: we have the best PTSA of ANY school ANYWHERE. Early this summer I gave them the challenge to help Orion raise money for a MASCOT. Can you believe that Orion has never had its own mascot?
Well, the PTSA took the challenge and SMASHED it! After their family fundraiser/golf challenge (in which there’s a good chance my foursome came in dead last) they presented the school with a check for enough money to purchase a nice, high quality MASCOT. So get ready for the court sports, because we’ll have a new mascot to help cheer our ball teams to victory!
We’ve got so many cool things going on around here it’s hard to say them all without leaving some out—but I want to especially point out some of the enrichment activities that have been happening during Titan Time. Here are some of the titles to give you an idea: “Spooktacular Stories for the Season” (from the English Dept.), MESA club will be working on “Barbie Bungee Jumping.” In the Library 40 lucky students will be “Skyping with Author DJ MacHale” (yes, THAT DJ MacHale), and Social Studies will be holding a “Revolutionary Bingo” tournament. We have fun here while we’re learning—and that’s only this week. There are activities just like this for enrichment happening every week thought up and put on by our very own teachers (who are brilliant). Students that have good grades and don’t need to take tests or make up assignments get to take part in these awesome enrichment activities.
Parents, thanks for sending us such AMAZING kids! Orion students are the best around. Have a great month of October, Titans.
