COMMUNITY COUNCIL MEETING
March 7, 2018
Present: Emily DeVries, Jackyln Wintle, Angie Francom, Chris Earnest, Heather Woodland, Krissy Hales, Prascilla Crook

Minutes were read
Registration Data was gone over by Ms. Earnest
- Need 1 more full time math teacher, part time English, 1 full time SPED teacher, 1 full time physics/science teacher.
- Projected enrollment for next year is down to 1018
- There is enough FTE to cover the above needs for new teachers.
- Class size is projected to be between 24-29
Safety:
- There will be a lockdown drill this month to continue to educate students/parents on safety procedures.
School Improvement Plan for 2018-2019:
Goal #1: Improve student proficiency in reading, writing, math and science while continuing to improve student pass rate in all classes school wide by 1%. We will pass this goal by May, 2019.
Measurements:
We will use ALEKs data, Benchmarks,
A motion to approve the 2018-2019 plan was made by Jen Francom and a second by Heather Woodland, all present were in favor to approve.
CLT working on expanding/adding to our current school goal of: Every student prepared for the next level.
Character Ed is going well at Orion
- Topics were chosen with suggestions from teachers of subjects that Orion students need help in.
- Ms. Earnest showed the Character Ed slides/video that will be shown on Monday March 12, so that the council will be aware of what is being taught in character education at Orion.
2018-2019 Schedule:
- Every Monday will be a late start: These late starts have been a benefit to teachers as they have met and collaborated with each other to help become better teachers.
- Titan Time will be held every Tuesday through Friday: Each Titan Time will last 30 minutes
- Ms. Earnest went over the new bell schedules for next year.
- School will end at 2:35 every day
- Reading time was lowered from 15 minutes to 10 minutes
- There will be more enrichment activities every Friday next year
May 2, 2018 will be our final Community Council Meeting for this year
