October 2, 2019
Attendees: Matthew Patterson, Tami Havey, Krissy Hales, Michelle DeVries, David Joy, David Sowby, Susan Roane Excused: Liz Putnam, Jenni Taylor and Detra Berger
Introductions and thank you: Matthew Patterson
Principal Report:
Mr. Patterson introduced Orion’s new faculty members
Mr. Patterson led a discussion about the following items:
How do we “Empower every student to succeed?”
- Establish the learning targets: What destinations do the students need to arrive at:
- How does the teacher and the student know that they are making the progress they need to arrive at the destination: “Are we there yet?”
- What are we doing for those students that need extra support?
- What are we doing for those students who have arrived at the destination and need to be pushed further?
Every person at Orion will have “A Name, A Face, A Voice, and Purpose”
- Teachers are in the halls talking to students during passing time
- Every student has a purpose that they feel is important
100% of our students need to benefit from Titan Time
- Students are in the same Titan Time teacher’s class all year long
- Students will possibly have the same Titan Time teacher all 3 years while at Orion
School Improvement Goals:
Mr. Patterson went over the goals and purpose of Community Council, which are:
- School land Trust Plan-Supports
- Digital Citizenship – Resources CIPA Training
- Develop and incorporate safety principals at the school
Community Council Members were asked to view Trustland training videos at home
Election of Community Council Chair and Vice Chair positions

David Sowby moved that Krissy be appointed as the Chair, all present were in favor

Vice Chair Nominations: Tami Havey was nominated for Vice Chair
David Sowby moved that Tami be appointed as Vice Chair, all present were in favor

Mr. Patterson conducted an overview of this year’s Trustland plan
Motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 4:28 p.m. by Krissy Hales
