The FFA at Orion JHS

Finding out overall fitness by testing the 5 components of fitness (muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardiorespiratory endurance, flexibility, and body composition). Students tested each area to see how fit they are and then create a goal and a workout plan to increase fitness.

The USBE School Counseling Specialist and USCA have partnered together to honor an amazing school counselor, or school counseling team, in Utah each month. Thank you to USCA for providing the monthly award for this recognition.

The Orion Junior High School Counseling Team stands out for their commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth. This team is positive, proactive and preventative with student behavior. They support the implementation of skill development, interventions, data collection and progress monitoring with fidelity. As a team, they are a resource and support to the overall needs of the school community. They collaborate to provide training to their faculty on delivering lessons to develop students’ skills both socially and academically. They are willing to be creative and dive right into new opportunities to support their school and students. They genuinely care about their students and want to meet their needs on an individual basis. We are so impressed with their ability to work together to support each other as well as those in their building. We are honored to have them as a part of our Weber School District team.

Driving up the spirit in today's assembly. No, the teachers didn't win at volleyball.

As we cover mans obsession with flight over the centuries, we have been learning about key scientific break through's that helped man get to modern aviation today. This week we discussed how three French scientists discovered that the atmosphere is like a fluid, and from this Buoyancy becomes key to achieving man's first flight. Students were challenged to master Buoyancy by creating a life raft that could save 40 souls (golf balls). The class average was around 23, the high was 31. They are learning that just because we know a law and the concepts, mastering it to do your bidding is harder than it seems.
