Social Studies Classes

Social Studies 7:  Students will study the significant events, people, cultural diversity, and issues that have influenced the development of Utah.  Basic social science skills will be reviewed and taught in greater depth.  The course will focus on the development of higher-level thinking skills, geography, history, political science, cultural values, economics and social interaction. 


U.S. History 8:  United States  and Utah History from the Civil War to the present time.


U.S. History 8 Honors:  This accelerated class will cover US History from the discovery of America to the Civil Rights Movement. There will be expanded learning opportunites that include field trips and hands-on activities.


Geography I:  Primarily a study of the physical and cultural geography, such as relationships of humans and their environment, climate, land formations, and map reading.


Advanced Placement Geography:  The purpose of the AP Human Geography course is to introduce students to the systematic study of patterns and processes that have shaped human understanding, use, and alteration of Earth’s surface. Students learn to employ spatial concepts and landscape analysis to examine human socioeconomic organization and its environmental consequences. They also learn about the methods and tools geographers use in their research and applications. This class will provide students with a learning experience equivalent to that obtained in most college-level introductory human geography courses with the chance to earn college credit.
